Founded in 1993, the company IONISOS continues a tradition of excellence that began in 1956 with the creation of the Centre Lyonnais d’Application Atomique, a pioneering global entity in the treatment of products by ionizing radiation. Renamed Conservatome in 1961, our company established several sterilization centers in the Rhône-Alpes region and throughout France, before merging with Amphytrion in 1993 to become IONISOS.

Thanks to this historical expertise, IONISOS has become a major player in the European market as a custom sterilization service provider, meeting the specific treatment requirements of our clients.

Our daily activity includes the treatment of laboratory equipment and accessories, pharmaceutical products, as well as medical devices. Sterilization and decontamination, which represent the majority of our turnover, constitute the core of our business, while crosslinking to improve the physical properties of polymers accounts for the remainder of our activities, alongside testing and development for diverse applications.

Ionizing radiation treatment: a wide range of applications

Ionisos specializes in ionizing radiation treatment, an industrial technique that has been used effectively since the 1960s for sterilization and decontamination. Using ebam, gamma, and X-rays, we sterilize medical, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic products and laboratory equipment, eliminating microorganisms and pathogens.

Our process modifies the molecular structure of plastics through cross-linking, thereby improving their strength and durability. Products are treated automatically, without chemical additives, using specific doses and exposure times.

We offer a wide range of services, including the sterilization of single-use medical equipment, the decontamination of packaging and finished products, the cross-linking of thermoplastic films, and grafting for various applications such as fire-retardant linen. Our technologies also optimize the performance of materials such as thermoplastics and composites and improve the characteristics of semiconductors.

Ethylene oxide sterilization for all your medical devices

Offered by IONISOS since 2004, ethylene oxide sterilization (also known as ETO or EO) is a gas sterilization technique that requires the air to be removed from the chamber beforehand. It has a wide range of applications for treating medical devices thanks to a low-temperature process (between 30 and 60°C) that prevents any deformation or oxidation of materials.

It is a last-resort solution suitable for medical devices that are incompatible with beta and gamma treatments, whether single-use equipment, breast implants or even equipment with electronic circuits. It is carried out in complete safety in sealed chambers. The products are ventilated after treatment to remove any residues.
