A strong sustainable development policy

Ionisos is a European leader in the sterilization of medical devices, with 11 sites across Europe using cutting-edge technologies such as gamma rays, electron beams, ethylene oxide, and soon, X-rays. Our commitment to sustainable development is at the core of our operations, aiming to protect the environment and biodiversity while ensuring optimal working conditions for our employees. We are also involved in crosslinking to enhance the properties of polymers, demonstrating our ongoing dedication to innovation and environmental responsibility.

Ionisos has joined the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and is committed to reducing its carbon emissions by 42% by 2030

By joining this initiative, we are committed to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030, based on our 2021 emissions, in line with the Paris Agreement goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C.

This commitment is part of our ongoing approach to reducing our environmental impact and developing more sustainable solutions for our clients and partners.

We firmly believe that industry has a key role to play in the transition to a more sustainable future. That’s why we will continue to invest in innovative technologies and practices to meet our climate goals.

Our sustainability policy is structured around three main areas

Governance

Sustainability governance aims to define Ionisos’ strategy, key performance indicators (KPIs), and action plan, regularly monitor the progress of initiatives, and ensure continuous improvement.

In 2021, Ionisos established a dedicated multidisciplinary team, fully integrated into the organization, to develop the sustainable development strategy, under the leadership of a Sustainability Director who reports directly to the President.

Social

Sustainable development is not only about protecting the environment or maintaining lasting partnerships — it is equally about people.

Indeed, it is people who deliver services to our clients and thereby create value. One of the group’s key priorities is to take all necessary measures to ensure that employees can contribute, make an impact, grow, and feel good at work.

Environment

We are constantly striving to reduce the negative impact we have on the environment. Whether it involves improving the energy efficiency of our facilities or changing our daily habits, we consider our impact from a life cycle perspective and take significant steps to reduce it.
