Ionisos has specialized in sterilization and crosslinking for over 60 years

1956

  • Creation of the Lyon Atomic Application Center, the first company in the world specializing in the treatment of products using ionizing radiation.

1958

  • Decree from the Ain prefecture authorizing the creation of the first gamma radiation sterilization unit in Dagneux.

1961

  • The Lyon Atomic Application Center becomes Conservatome.
  • Opening of the Dagneux sterilization unit (D1).

1962

  • Opening of a second sterilization unit in Dagneux (D2).

1972

  • Opening of a third sterilization unit with significantly increased capacity (D3).

1978

  • Decree authorizing the company Conservatome to increase the maximum activity of the irradiation source of the facility named D3

1992

  • Opening of a new gamma radiation sterilization unit in Sablé-sur-Sarthe.

1993

  • Birth of the Ionisos Group following the merger of Conservatome with AMPHYTRION, whose Pouzauges unit, dedicated to gamma radiation and launched in 1989, was the first in Europe built for the agri-food market

1997

  • The Ionisos Group acquires the company CARIC in Chaumesnil to benefit from a second technology in the field of ionizing radiation: accelerated electrons (beta treatment, also called ebeam).

2004

  • The Ionisos Group adds a third sterilization technology by opening its first ethylene oxide treatment site in Gien through its subsidiary STERYLENE.

2007

  • Ionisos begins its European development by acquiring the company IONMED, a specialist in Beta treatment in Spain

2016

  • Ionisos continues its European development by integrating the company IONISOS GmbH (formerly LEONI STUDER GmbH) located in Bautzen, Germany, specialized in crosslinking

2017

  • Ionisos strengthens its position in the French market by integrating the company STERMED, located near Lyon and specializing in ethylene oxide treatment.
  • Ionisos announces the acquisition of Scandinavian Clinics Estonia. Founded in 2005 and based in Harju County, Estonia, Scandinavian Clinics Estonia is the Baltic specialist in gamma radiation sterilization.

2018-2019

  • Sablé-sur-Sarthe: increase in storage capacity for treated and untreated products, improvement of logistical flows

2020

  • Estonia: increase in on-site storage capacity

2023

  • Ionisos continues its European growth by integrating, through a carve-out operation, part of the sterilization and crosslinking beta ray activity of Studer Cable, based in Däniken, Switzerland.
  • The creation of Ionisos’ first site using X-ray technology is launched in France, in Henriville.
